To celebrate a Friend's birthday, we treated ourselves to a beautiful brunch at
Artisan, the Restaurant at The Westbury Hotel in Mayfair.
The Westbury Hotel Mayfair is a 5 Star Luxury Hotel blending modern and contemporary style
with timeless traditional comfort and quality and its restaurant,
The Artisan,
is no different offering a very memorable experience!
To entertain our taste buds before our starters arrived, we were pleasantly surprised
when we were brought beautiful complimentary amuse-bouches :
Delicious Spoonfuls of Wonderful Flavours.
Next, we were brought a little pot of wonders which consisted of ingredients
with different textures and flavours.
The seasoning was light and simply perfect to allow the original flavours to blend naturally.
And then our starters arrived ...
I had the Terrine Ham Hock which did not let me down!
The plate was balanced between sweet and salty. The Terrine was served with
celeriac remoulade, prune compote and toasted soda bread.
Simple and Tasty !
My other half had the seafood option - Smoked Salmon and Crayfish mousse
served with a Shellfish Mayo { oh! Yum! } and Melba Toast.
As we cleared our starters, I was happy that the waiter did not serve our Mains straight away
as I was not sure if I could eat more at that moment in time ...
however, for the more robust eaters, while we were chatting away happily,
we were served a selection of bread which of course I had to try a little piece
Doesn't it look tasty ? And it was!
A few minutes later, the waitress came to clear our table to set up for our mains to arrive
and at that point we were very much looking forward to see what was to come.
Sunday Brunch of course means Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding and gravy!
It did not disappoint!
The beef was tender and cooked to perfection served with Horseradish sauce
The Yorkshire Pudding was crispy and yet soft in the middle.
The only negative critic was that there was not enough gravy.
Perfection would have been reached if only there was more gravy
available to soak the Yorkshire pudding in.
For a change, instead of ordering the Roast Beef { like everybody else } ,
I decided to go for the Fish option.
The Fillet of Cod was seared until just right - soft, flaky and light -
accompanied with mussels, clams and samphire served on crushed new potatoes.
All beautifully covered with a delicious foam sauce. Delightful flavours all in one dish!
Bon Appetit!! My Foodie Friend Rie and I ready to attack! Yum!!
Once our mains were all gone, we were happy to take a break... that is ...
until the next little surprise came to us...
A cold and acidic concoction of flavours perfect to cleanse our palate before Dessert is served.
I'm loving the attention to detail as we enjoyed this whole dining experience.
And finally our Desserts came.
Although I had the Caraibe Chocolate Mousse served with exotic fruits and pineapple sorbet
which was nice, it did not compare to what my other half had.
The Nougatine Floating Island served on a Toffee Creme Anglaise.
Simply Heaven!
The Floating Island was so light, it would melt as soon as it entered the mouth
and the toffee creme anglaise complimented the dessert completely.
Ah! Such Fine dining for Brunch was a Wonderful Foodie Experience
and most definitely a memorable one!
