Surprise from Mauritius!

When my cousins came back from their trip to Mauritius, they brought me ' ene ti parcel', which means a little package from my mum.

What a nice surprise it was! And it was definitely not a small package!!

Yummmmmmmm.......   Delicious Napolitaines!

Just a bite! Just a bite! Crumbly pastry, fruity jam and a delicate slim layer of pink icing! Hmmmm...  :)

And in addition to these sweet tooth delights, my lovely mum also sent me some flowers - Anthuriums, they are called. So lovely! They all came from a very slim long box but when opened up, the flowers and leaves kept coming out!! I did not have enough vases to display them all so had to improvise with my glass bottles of water which I knew would come in handy at some point!! hehe!!

Oh and Look!! They come in three beautiful colours!

Fast and Simple Dinner

With a little help, it is quite easy to get a nice meal together ...

I grabbed a cod fillet in crust from M&S which I put in my pre-heated oven to grill for about 15-20 minutes until cooked, crispy and golden. In the meantime, I boiled a couple of potatoes to make some fluffy mashed creamy potatoes and finally for the veggie option, I stir fried some spinach leaves with garlic ... and the final result is ....

Simple, quick and easy ... and most important, balanced and healthy, oh and also very tasty ... :)

Got some work to do now so I'm happy that it all didn't take long giving me enough time {hopefully}  to finish my work, watch some tv and spend some time with my Fiance before going to bed!

Happy Lunar Year of the Rabbit !

Gong Xi Fa Cai ! Happy New Lunar Year of the Rabbit!!

It's the end of the Tiger year, as we enter the Year of the Rabbit today.

Last year, I was back home in Mauritius { under the warm bright Sun } celebrating with my big loving family.  Happy Days!  { How time flies! }  Chinese New Year is a great time to be back home. Surrounded by family, all my little cousins, wisdom from the Grandparents ... (^.^)   ah! ... I do miss them all at this time of the year!

What makes the celebration of Chinese New Year even more special are the home-made dishes freshly prepared for all the big family to enjoy! I vividly remember my Uncles and Aunts helping out at my Grand-parents' house to make all the different traditional mauritian-chinese dishes which are usually prepared for this special occasion . My grand mother's speciality is her delicious 'soya-fried-chicken'... Simply divine! Soft, juicy and crispy golden skin. Then you have the stuffed teo-kon... and then of course the "hundred years' duck eggs" { Known as : p-hi tan in chinese } eaten with pickled ginger.
